Fall Decor: Altered Chalkboard

i've been playing around with one of the newest releases from Little Yellow Bicycle called Acorn Hollow!  it's gorgeous with a mix of pastels and rich earth tones. some of the embellishments and stickers in the collection have this beautiful rust-colored metallic, which you can see on the 'so very thankful' chipboard piece and the owl's wings.

y'all know by now that i love creating wall art that can be framed and switched out seasonally.  but this season, i wanted to look beyond a frameable project and decided to lean into the more dimensional art with an altered item.

so, i decided to alter a chalkboard from my husband’s childhood by adhering embellishments directly onto the slate and frame of the board. here's a little secret: if you use glue dots to adhere your items, you can even pull them back off after the season is over and create a new one for the next season! brilliant, yes?

and if you're careful, the embellishments can even be recycled back into your stash or taken right from the altered item and placed onto a layout using the same design by replacing the center sentiment with a photo or two. but, if you’re looking for a more permanent option, i recommend using a hot glue gun to adhere your embellishments. then they'll be stuck like chuck!

anywho.
i took time to provide links to the products i've used on this project in case you're inspired to make your own.....happy shopping!
