Pink Fire Pointer January 2013

Team T-Shirt Pillow Tutorial

hello, friends! i know it's been a while....nearly 2 months, in fact. i'm sorry for that. things get a little crazy around here during the holidays along with the Craft & Hobby trade show that immediately follows.  but i'm getting reacquainted with my pre-holiday schedule and hope to bring more to this internet space of mine soon.

in the meantime....it's a good time to show your team spirit!  i challenge you to spruce up your husband's (or son's) man cave or just make some fun conversation pieces for that Superbowl Party you're planning this weekend. i happen to think these would also be quite popular with the college crowd to add a little fun to their dorm room decor.

anywho. these pillows are made with upcycled team t-shirts and whip up super quick. and guess what?  i have a tutorial to show you exactly how to get from start to finish over Fiskars.com: Team T-Shirt Pillow Tutorial

not a sports fan?  no worries. you can use any t-shirt, it doesn't have to be sports themed!

this is especially perfect for those shirts you fall in love with on the clearance rack or at the thrift store, but inevitably aren't your size. :)  buy it anyway and turn it into a pillow!

t-shirt pillows are especially perfect for decorating a child's playroom or bedroom since they are easily washable.

happy creating & be sure to show me your finished pillows!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Let it Snow banner or as I like to say every year "Please Let it STOP snowing!" Actually maybe next year the snowman should be holding a little red stop sign:) We started to take full advantage of the snow here in Utah and decided to go sledding... It was all great fun until my little one who is now not so little... laid down at the bottom of the hill and said "I am so tired, I am not moving at all I am going to lay here until someone carries me up to the car..." Well, let's just say I have darling pictures to scrapbook and we have only been sledding one time so far!!!

We have kits for this darling banner at Mom and Me Scrapbooking
Also, If you spend $50.00 in January you will get a FREE club membership to Mom and Me... This allows you to get 15% on all your scrapbooking supplies all year long and work at our tables for free:)

Happy New Year... and by the way one of my news years resolutions is to blog... So keep on visiting our blog and tell your friends:)

CHA Catch Up

So CHA Winter is over again for another year but there have been some fabulous releases this year which I can't wait to get hold of. First of all I want to catch up with a few of my favourite items, including Jenni Bowlin. I will show a few of my favourite items and then will conclude with a video to let Jenni tell you herself about all her new products. It frustrates me that her items are not widely available so maybe an order from the US should be considered........

Photo Album Clear Stamp
Loving this stamp, so vintage and you can make your own mini albums to use on its own or to include in scrapbook or on a scrapbook page. Jenni has many more stamps just like this, such as grocer's list and writing book.

Vintage Mini Deck
Once again so vintage and perfect embellishments which are so good for writing notes on in scrapbooking and layering up to add more interest to your page.

Modern Mercantile - Paraphernalia Paper
Loving this double sided paper, perfect for vintage scrapbooks

Here's Jenni to let you see the rest of her new collections:

That's all for tonight but I will be back with a few more of my favourite videos from CHA Winter 2013. Though if you can't wait until then I would suggest you head over to Bluemoon Scrapbooking to check out their videos, brilliant!

New Year, New Products

Well its that time of year again, CHA Winter is due to start in a few days and I have been checking out some of the new products that are going to be on offer. This is my favourite CHA show as the designers put together their best designs to start us crafters off for the next year.

First up today is Tim Holtz and once again he has out done himself with some fabulous embellishments, papers and stamps. Here are my Top 10 products from his range:

1. French Revolution Paper Collection

This is a key theme throughout Tim's range this year and these papers are the perfect start to a Paris themed scrapbook project or asa backdrop to a configuration box.

2. Configurations Box with Cover

These new configuration boxes are fab, they are half the size of Tim's original configuration tray and come with an attached cover so you can keep it closed like a book on a shelf and then open it for display.

3. Worn Cover and Cabinet card frames

Both of these new releases are so vintage, I absolutely love them. You can add one of Tim's ring binders to the inside of this book to add some pages to create your own book and these card frames are excellent for framing your photos whilst maintaining the vintage look. I feel a project coming on with these new beauties.

4. Assemblage Clock

This new assemblage clock is complentary to the pocket watch that has been previosuly released. A glimspe of a project Tim has created with this clock looks amazing and has given me a few ideas.

5. Locket Book

The locket book at the top of this picture looks so exciting and I can't wait to get my hands on this, though by the sounds of it it will get lost in my hands due to its tiny size. This will create the smallest of scrapbook projects, protecting the smallest of images.

6. Paris Texture Fades

The Paris theme is continued into the texture fades and alterations lines and these embossing folders look so vintage and perfect as a backdrop to a small Paris themed scrapbook.

7. Picture Wheel Sizzix Alteration

This sizzix die is reminiscent of my workshop with Tim a few years ago. We went to a configuration box workshop with Tim Holtz who gave us lots of goodies to put inside it and one of those was an old picture wheel which if I remember rightly had Ninja turtles on it! Anyway this die allows you to create your own picture wheels and I can't wait to see what projects Tim has created with this die cut.

8. Sewing Blueprint Stamps

I haven't really taken to Tim's range of sketch stamps however these sewing stamps really did stand out to me and would be great as a background for a sewing themed mini book with these stamped lightly behind photos and text.

9. Tiny Things Stamps

These mini stamps are great if you have quite been taken by some of Tim's larger stamps and maybe the budget can't be stretched as far to buy them all so this stamp collection includes most in a minature form. However these images have a classic and nostalgic feel about them.

10. Simple Sayings Stamps

I'm going to finish off with these set of stamps with simple sayings. I always find it difficult to find the stamp I need to include a saying on a card or as a sentiment on a scrapbook page, so I think I will definitely be buying these stamps as a necessity item and add them to my wish list on Tim's app.

If you haven't already you should check out Tim's blog for all his latest releases and download his app for iphone and ipad to view updates from CHA and add products to your own wish list.

I will be back soon with some of my other favourite CHA releases, inclduing Jenny Bowlin and Kaisercraft.

Happy New Year: Welcome 2013

Happy New Year Bloggers!

I hope you enjoyed celebrations last night on welcoming a new year and I have a feeling this year will be a good one. Primarily because I will be graduating this year and can't wait to start living my life outside of university and putting this craft business into full swing.
I spent my New Year celebrations crafting and have been accumulating ideas for new workshops that will be beginning in March, so exciting times ahead and of course details will be posted as soon as finishing touches have been applied.

So do we have any New Year resolutions? Well.......

1. Continue to do more and bigger workshops in a variety of places - hopefully a new venue this year.
2. Set up an Etsy account for some of the projects we make.
3. Host our own Christmas Craft Fair - this may be the biggest and most challenging of the resolutions but will be so worth it if it all goes well.
4. Start and finish my Smashbook.

Has anyone else made any resolutions yet?
